Podcast episode: 1) FORGED BY FIRE: John O’Leary, has lived through worse than most can imagine. At age nine, a fire burned 100% of his body.
He endured, persevered, and survived – largely because others emerged, served and inspired. He now lives to share the life-giving lessons from his story in a new book, On Fire: The 7 Choices to Ignite a Radically Inspired Life. Listen to the podcast on “The good life project” here.
Ted Talk: 2) Benjamin Zander: The transformative power of classical music:: This is one of my favorite ted talks ever and it always makes me cry. I have played the piano for 7 years when I was a child until i became a teenager and thought I knew better. This video isn’t just about classical music but about its ability to empower people. Also check out the book he wrote with his wife, “The art of possibility” which expands on the ideas in the talk and includes some classical music as well.
Author: William Gibson: This is my favorite fiction author. He started in sci-fi and coined the term “cyberspace”, and had huge influence on the movie “the matrix”. But i consider his writing to be about people, social issues, the interaction between people and technology and how that is changing both. I am completely in love with his prose and his language.
Among his characters: A brand expert who instantly knows if a logo will work or not and is also acutely allergic to The Michelin man and other famous logos. Or a data analyst who can see meaningful “nodal points” in vast streams of data.
3)My favorite books are “All tomorrow’s parties” and “Pattern recognition”
